Pop Up Hotel Krone Zurich

Ingo Giezendanner

Not an Advent calendar, and yet a 3D structure made of cardboard with glued-on folded elements and small windows that can be opened: a sculptural paper object will adorn the room at the Pop Up Hotel Krone Zurich. Besides the drawings created on site, observations of other cities and/or times will also be integrated into the work. The original drawings will be replicated by means of photocopy, Riso and other printing technologies, so that guests are allowed to touch the object.

Always drawing everywhere he goes, virtually nothing escapes his attention. Thus Ingo Giezendanner’s urban scenes are always full of little gems for the viewer to discover. His drawings evolve into picture books, murals, cartoon films, and dynamic maps.

I recommend a visit to the Succulent Plant Collection, which is open daily from 9 am to 4.30 pm. Admission is free.

2

When the sun is shining, I would suggest an invigorating dip in the cold water at the neighboring Mythenquai swimming bath. In winter, the family-friendly lido serves as a public park.

3

Afterwards, a walk takes you uphill to the Rieterpark (museum and vantage point), across to the Kantonsschule Enge (extensive Bauhaus architecture), then past the Google head office to the River Sihl, along the river and back to the city center.
