Pop-Up Hotel Krone Zurich
With her Christmas room, “The Broken Angels of the Krone”, von Meyenburg brings to life the ghosts and angels of the former Hotel Krone. A total of 28 ephemeral figures, or “broken angels”, gather in her room at Christmas – the same number as the amount of rooms in the Hotel Krone of yesteryear. The angels – all differently attired – are represented as ambassadors, guardian angels, or Baby Jesus. They evoke the past, but at the same time spread magic and fire the imagination. A room for everyone who believes in the magic of Christmas.

CHRISTMAS IN ZÜRICH by Martina von Meyenburg
Martina von Meyenburg
The (hi)stories of found objects and materials form the basis of von Meyenburg’s sculptural investigations. As a collector and curator of “traces”, the visceral and associative evidence of the previous lives of things, she is interested in how particular material combinations and modes of display can alter our relationship to the “data” presented. In her work, which comprises various media such as sculptures, installations, works on paper, and photography, the artist pushes the playfully surreal and instinctive aspects of her creations.
Stroll through the festively-lit Neumarkt and Rindermarkt alleys to the Bodega Espanola and enjoy tapas and a glass of wine on the ground floor.
The Herzbaracke – a floating theater with music, dance, cabaret, extravagant décor, magic, wine, and good food.
Browse at Zurich’s flea markets for gifts and knickknacks (such as the one on the Kanzlei-Areal).
